Parking for the disabled at airports

Melissa Page writes in with a complaint about disabled parking at Gold Coast Airport: "There is not a drop off point for disabled people at the Gold Coast Airport. For one of Australia's most popular tourists destinations this is a disgrace. There is a Disabled Drop off Zone at Brisbane Airport that gives you a 1/2 hour to drop off the disabled traveller." Have you had a similar experience?
More from Melissa: "I received a ticket whilst dropping my disabled father to the airport counter today (25th of October 2007) at 5.58am. My plan was not to escort him to the counter but felt guilty leaving him to get from the car to the counter by himself. My father, Robert Page has had a few strokes and has end stage liver disease. He is often disorientated and confused."
Getting pinged for $66 in this situation is pretty rough!
