Golden handshake for MPs: Fair reward or too much?

Posted at 10:06 on 27 November, 2007

With a number of retirements pending after the recent election, the issue of "golden handshakes" for politicians has risen once more. John Howard gets a $330k+ p.a. pension, 40 free return flights per year for himself and Janette, an office, staff and car for life. De-Anne Kelly gets an $80kpa pension and up to 25 return flights per year for the next three years. Is it fair, or too much?

9 Dec 07 Far far too much! disgusting in fact! a stop should be put to these kinds of perks! that's all they do the job for, heaven knows all they've done in the last 11 years is boost the big corporations and the rich, and try to put the 'real people' on a slave like salary, and on top of that, take away job security!
Put them on a realistic pension (same as the unemployed, and their super should be based on an ordinary workers one! they've done nothing to deserve better, and they sure haven't earned anymore!
