Howard, Rudd refuse to budge on gay marriage views

Posted at 12:26 on 23 October, 2007

Neither John Howard nor Kevin Rudd have budged on their opposition to gay marriage presenting voters with no difference on the issue between the major parties. Are they old-fashioned or will this view hold for the future? What do you think about gay marriage?

25 Oct 07 Same rights and rules for everyone no matter their sexual preference. Heteros will still hook-up and have children. The "family" is in greater danger from other things than a couple of chicks who want to lick each other's lips.

25 Oct 07 They're avoiding these type of questions because they know what they say will affect the election. But personally, I support gay marriage, and I think it'll be a good thing if they start to discuss this issue.

30 Oct 07 it's a typical politician approach to anything, even if they supported gay marriage they wouldn't publically because it would allienate them from the public and all those christians on their moralistic highground wouldn't vote for them.
and that sucks. legalising gay marriage is not going to bring us any closer to the apocalypse or anything, its just going to allow people to express their love for each other and what the hell is wrong with that? love is love, no matter who is feeling it.
and if the politicians set teh example, maybe the public will follow suit. in an ideal world, anyhow.
hopelessly in love
2 Nov 07 Disappointed by Rudd and Labor but I can understand their decision. Chances are if they supported gay marriage they would lose the election. Can't do much to advance gay rights from opposition. Let's judge them after we see what they do in government.
